Simply put – the Humpback and Killer Whale watching along with the odd Grey Whale and the ever present Pacific White Sided Dophin is awesome!

Countless times you will in awe as you watch these huge mammals effortlessly glide through the water in search for either their next meal or simply steaming on to their final destination, wherever that may be.

The Humpback Whale, a very common sighting in August and September, can easily be spotted with its large exhaling of air while gaining strength to dive deep in order to feast on the plentiful shrimp and krill located on the sandy bottoms. Humpback whales reach 49’ in length and can weigh up to 45 tons.

The Killer Whale is a sight to behold in itself; countless times you will find yourself dropping whatever you may be doing to simply watch in wonder. These black beauties can reach 27’ in length, weigh up to 11 tons and speed along at a mind numbing 30mph! They eat pretty much anything that swims in front of their mouth (no humans); birds, salmon, seals, squid, other whales, etc.

The Pacific White-sided Dolphin is an acrobatic and powerful swimmer on the coast of BC. You will often find these beautiful mammals wanting to ride the bow waves of passing commercial fish boats or the cruise ships that ply the waters, sometimes you will be blessed with being able to see a “super pod” of Pacific White-sided Dolphins, these super pods can number up and over 100 – 200 and the acrobatics will leave you wishing and wanting more
