Getting Here

By Air

Private and other chartered aircraft are welcome at Shearwater’s 3000’ paved airstrip on Denny Island (call letters - CYJQ). Our strip has a large apron for long term parking of aircraft. Please advise us of your ETA as there are no phones or radios at the airstrip. Give the Shearwater hotel manager a call at 250-957-2666 or 250-957-2718 and we will send our bus to pick you up.



Air transportation is provided on chartered aircraft for our inclusive package guests directly to Shearwater’s airstrip on Denny Island. Please see the Fishing Packages section for more information.

Bella Bella has convenient daily scheduled air service to and from Vancouver and Port Hardy on Pacific Coastal Airlines. Bella Bella is a short Seabus ride from Shearwater. The Shearwater Seabus meets most scheduled airline arrival times.

By Ferry

BC Ferries Discovery Coast Passage offers service from Port Hardy and Bella Coola right to our doorstep. Passengers and Vehicles are delivered to the Shearwater terminal after an exciting cruise of the mid coast. There is opportunity for all kinds of wildlife viewing along the way. The Captain will often go out of his way to make sure you get a good look at killer & humpback whales, porpoises, and other marine life, as well as a chance at seeing deer swimming or bears and wolves along the shoreline. We offer a variety of packages that include your ferry fare, including bring your own boat and/or RV packages. Seabus from Bella Bella

Shearwater operates a scheduled Seabus to and from the government wharf in Bella Bella. This provides a convenient way to visit the village, as well as access the airport. Our 33 passenger Seabus is Canadian Steamship approved with certified Captain and Crew. Service is provided approximately every 1 ½ hours, and is coordinated with the airline schedules. The costs is $5 per person each way.
